Russian roads are getting safer and better, as the construction of new highways is ahead of schedule, as reported to the Prime mister Mikhail Mishustin on August 11. Apart from the national project “Safe and quality roads” in June the administration approved another program for road construction. Everything looks good on paper but what about reality?

Road construction in Russia is performed ahead of the schedule. Quality road network results in reduced logistic costs, infrastructure, work places and provides additional support of the entire economy of the country. Mikhail Mishustin had a meeting today with Roman Novikov, the head of “Rosavtodor”. What has been done already and how new 5-year program is being implemented considering its rather challenging tasks?

The scope of auto transportation in our country grows rapidly; this growth requires construction of new and reconstruction of old roads with different types of bitumen-concrete coatings. Recently most of Russian road construction organizations started using tracked machines produced in Europe. By the end of 2015 Russia had not a single road paver manufacturing factory.

In particular, they discussed the implementation of the national project “Safe quality roads”, as well as 5-year Rosavtodor program aimed at road construction. The emphasis was made on production of road building machines in Bryansk: NPO GKMP LLC will produce over 300 machines per year in the long run.

In Moscow region domestically produced road building and repair machines are tested by Rosavtodor jointly with the national manufacturers. These activities are supposed to enhance production output and expand product lines for the most demanded models of the road building hardware, namely road pavers.
