Common Frame received at the ITER site in France

On September 13, 2024, the ITER facility located in France received a dedicated Common Frame designed for the first out of four Port Plug Test Facilities (PPTF) for vacuum, stress, thermal and functional tests of Port Plugs.

PPTF including the delivered Common Frame, are produced in Bryansk and rely on state-of-art and one-of-the-kind domestic technologies and developments. During testing Port Plugs at PPTF, conditions will be created inside the Test Tank that are as close as possible to the actual operating conditions of the future Tokamak facility.

The PPTF Common Frame, shipped to the Tokamak construction site, is the first GKMP shipment for ITER project. The metal structure over 20 tons is designed for uniform load distribution of PPTF components and testing objects - Port Plugs.

This event marks a significant milestone for development of international cooperation within the framework of ITER project.
